Invariably involving extreme logistics and casts of millions, Ellie often works with children, animals and all the other things most sensible people avoid like the plague.

Ellie Jones’s fine looking production works wonderfully well in its moments of intimacy, with Joe Duttine outstanding in the title role.
His introduction is a mesmerising piece of theatre…As is tradition, Duttine plays the role without prosthetics and his performance is entirely sensitive and convincing. He’s ably supported by Antony Byrne as Dr Treves, the man who rescues Merrick and on whose memoirs the play is based. Their scenes together, of which there are many, are never less than tender and affecting.
All this is helped enormously by a score that is sympathetic and evocative and a set design that meets the standards we’ve come to expect from Sheffield Theatres productions.

I am thrilled to be directing another staging of Hydrocracker‘s The New World Order in Shoreditch Town Hall.
Staged in a former government building, Hydrocracker’s darkly compelling promenade performance journeys from the council chambers of high-minded policymakers to the labyrinthine depths below, where functionaries of the new world order keep ‘the world clean for democracy’.
